June 1, 2026 - Home to Bay City, MI
Left home around 9:00 a.m. Long drive to Bay City Hampton. Arrived around 3;30 p.m. Jeter recognized the hotel and got very exited!
June 2, 2026 - Bay City to Drummond Island
Left around 9 am and arived at Drummond Island around 2. Got all checked in to our cottage (there was confusion on the date we were to arrive and we ended up with a free upgrade! Got the battery hooked up and went out to dinner at Northwook.

June 3, 2026 - Begin work on Windfall!
Met with Carl and Brent. Looks like there will be few days before we can launch. I dropped the dingy motor onto a dolly and changed the oil. Then I installed planing fins to the motor in hopes it improves the way the dinghy handles our 8hp Yamaha!
Cooked a nice steak for dinner on the cottage grill, then early to bed!
June 4, 2026 - More work, then surprise launch!
Repaired a ding on the stern (been meaning to do that for a few years!), and did some smaller projects. Carl said that several people that were on the list postponed, so we launched!
Put the boat in a slip and started doing more chores. Put clothes and some of our food on the boat.
June 8, 2026 - Mast up Now the work continues!
Got the mast up and tuned the rigging (It will need to be done several more times!). Moved the boat over to the East docks so the yard has the space to put up other masts.
June 9, 2026 - Got the boom on and rigged. Put the mainsail on with the sail cover!
More work on getting the boat ready. Boom rigged with the boom vang, Main on with sail cover. Tuned the mast..again. Dinner at Northwood.
June 10, 2026 - Got the Genoa on!
Got the mast up and tuned the rigging (It will need to be done several more times!). Moved the boat over to the East docks so the yard has the space to put up other masts.
June 11, 2026 - Drummond Island Yacht Haven to Meldrum Bay
Finally got away! Left around 10 am. Motored the whole way. Got in around 1:40 and tied up. Went to the Olde General Store for ice cream. No power on the dock (bad because it's COLD! Investigated and discovered the dock wasn't plugged into shore. I plugged the dock wires in, still no go. Called the dockmaster (also the store manager) and he came and turned on the breakers.
June 12, 2026 - Meldrum Bay to Gore Bay
After a wild windy night with a NE wind blowing into our stern and making racket, we left for Gore Bay. Sailed, then motor sailed. Arrived around 3pm. Checked in and talked to Mark?. The CYC store was EMPTY! Apparently Ken had not left things in good order when he passed, and without the charter business, his wife could not make ends meeet. There may be someone in the offing to try to make a go of it, but not this year.Very strange to see the store completely empty and locked up! Had dinner at the Bouy's Eatery.

June 15, 2026 - Gore Bay to Benjamins
After a quiet morning we went for diesel and a pump out, then left for the Benjamins. Sailed most of the way once we were out of Gore Bay. Arrived around 3 and anchored in the cove by the cottage (Glen's hangout!). Went to N.Benjamin for a walk. Water around 53 degrees very cold bath!
